Dear Ms. Carreiro, the teachers, staff, parents and students at Christ the King School:

In January of 2017 we first visited Christ the King School, my husband and I were interested in transitioning our children into a different school environment and family members had highly recommended that we look into CTK. We immediately knew that Christ the King was the School we wanted our children to attend for the remainder of their elementary and junior high school years and we were thrilled when both of the girls were accepted for the 2018/2019 school year.

Our children (Grades 1 and 3) began attending classes in September of 2018. We had several expectations from the school from the outset – a smaller environment, higher academic standards, parent/school communication, a commitment to student safety. We were not disappointed – all of the elements that we were looking for were there.

What I would like to share with you are the other “bonus” pieces that we did not even consider – but are so grateful for. The values that are instilled in our children and all of the other students – this is a setting filled with warmth, compassion and kindness – from the first week children from all grades knew our children’s names and take the time to say hello as they pass by. The students are held to high standards – not just by faculty and parents but more importantly by one another. Every opportunity is one to learn from – children are accountable for their actions – and the approach is gentle and one that fosters positive growth.

The academic standard is higher than we expected – teachers and support staff meet each of the students where they are to help them learn, develop and grow. We love the teachers and staff – and we love ALL of them – this is an incredible group of people, every one of whom takes the extra time to know the kids – they lead by example – which is so very important because the people who teach our children have the privilege of spending more waking hours with our kids than we do as parents. The girl’s teachers are incredible – they have been consistently available for communication – whether it be regarding academics or social development.

As parents we were naturally concerned about the impact that changing schools would have on the girls – as expected there was a period of transition. The transition was more gentle and smooth than we could have asked for – the girls love this school, they have made friends – the type of fun, kind friend a parent hopes their child will find. The parents of those friends are incredible human beings – nurturing and fostering those friendships to help them grow. The kids love hot dog days and colour days and all of the exciting details that are so carefully planned out by the school staff, teachers and volunteers. I cannot even begin to describe how my heart melted to hear our children signing “halleluiah” as they prepared for the school Christmas concert.

Christ the King School is a community that our family has been warmly welcomed into – we drop our children off at school every day – with peace of mind that they are safe, well taken care of and on the road to growing into the incredible people that they have all of the potential to be.
